Hey, you guys! How are you? It's been a while. 😔 I have left this little space of mine floating for years. It's already been 3 years since I last posted. And it was a sad one. I lost Mike back then, and didn't have the energy to write. I still miss him.
Anyway, today, I felt like writing again, even if no one else actually reads my blog anymore. 😁 So, yeah! I've travelled out of the country a few times (twice to be exact!) the past two years. And I just want to log them here so I can look back at them in the future. Before IG reels, throwback Thursdays, and flashback Fridays became a thing, blogging was my way to express and remember things that turn into memories. ♥
Hello, SG!
My family and I spent (almost) a week in Singapore last November 2022. It was such a great and memorable experience! Hope my memory can still remember the details. And please excuse my forgetfulness if I miss out some things. 😁
DAY 0
Arrival at Singapore
We landed at nighttime, 6 PM, in Singapore. Gladly, we were still able to catch the famous indoor waterfall or the rain vortex! It was mesmerizing! It took us so much time to take our photos, that we even transferred between floors. 😅 After that, we obviously got hungry so we grabbed a quick meal at 7-Eleven.
Since we booked for our transfer service (via Klook), we headed to our accommodation when the driver arrived. The car was spacious for the 5 of us. If I remember it correctly, it was a van-type (sorry, I don't know the model). It was huge. It carried our 6 luggages, with a few hand carries.
We arrived around 30 minutes or so, because hello, the traffic there in Singapore is non-existent.😄 It was a smooth and quick ride. We checked in at Tai Hoe Hotel in Little India. The place was kind of old, definitely not a modern one, but not bothersome. Only con was that, the room didn't have a switch to turn the lights off. So we slept for 5 straight nights with bright lights. 😭 Everything else was okay. The room was small but enough for us — two twin bunk beds, and 1 queen-sized bed.
The hotel was close to almost everywhere! There's a mall across it, a walking distance to the nearest train station (Farrer Park), a nearby local grocery store, and a few money changers! We didn't have any problem grabbing snacks or drink when we suddenly got hungry or when we needed to replenish anything. So that's really a GREAT thing.
DAY 1
Chinatown + MBS + Art Science Museum + Gardens by the Bay
Left our hotel early in the morning to start our first day of the tour! My sister and I planned everything, so we travelled by ourselves. We didn't avail any tour packages since DIY is more convenient and saves you bucks! 👌 It was also fun to plan your own itinerary!
First stop: Chinatown
It was a quick stroll because Chinatown is huge. It has lots of streets. We just strolled one street quickly and was able to buy a few things there already. Prices are average, not too cheap. We also had our first meal of the day at Chinatown Complex where we had one of the best meals of our entire travel duration.
Second stop: MBS
We took a train ride to MBS from Chinatown. We strolled around the mall and checked out the luxury stores. We passed by Bacha Coffee but didn't want to buy yet since it was only our first day. But I should've bought right then and there because we weren't able to come back anymore. 😭 Tip #1: buy stuff you intend to buy right away when you come across them!
Third stop: Art Science Museum
The highlight of the day! We enjoyed the museum so much! We booked our tickets via Klook so we didn't have to line for tickets anymore. We just showed them our QR vouchers and we were allowed to go in. When we visited, it was only City In a Garden and Future World that were available since others were being renovated. My favorite was Future World!
Fourth stop: Gardens by the Bay
Ahhhhh this was a huge park! We didn't take or book their transfer service so we walked all afternoon. It was tiring! Especially for the elders. 😔 I advised you to book your tickets for the ride as well if you're travelling with elderlies. Anyway, the park was such a beauté. It was a humid afternoon but the air was breezy. We spent and capped the night off after the Supertree Grove light show. IT WAS LOVELY. ♥
