Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

With all these quarantines, lock downs, and travel bans going on around the world caused by the current pandemic, I couldn't help but reflect back on the travels I had from last year. We all miss going traveling, don't we? But for now, lucky are the ones who get to stay at home. Lucky are we! Salute to all the heroes, front-liners, military, doctors, and nurses, who are risking their lives to battle this current global situation. May God bless the whole world!

Looking back, we celebrated my father's birthday in Kuala Lumpur last 2019 of July (I know, I haven't posted for almost two years??). Stayed at an Airbnb hotel in Bukit Bintang area. I chose it because it's just a walking distance to Jalan Alor, the street of the famous night market. Because why not?

DAY 1

TJ's Nasi Kandar

Recommended by one of my friends, our first stop is at TJ's Nasi Kandar. I ordered Briyani Ayam (Chicken) that cost RM 11, if I remember it correctly (around Php130). Aaahhhh! It was so good. The best meal I had during the entire trip. :) The serving is also huge! The staff were really nice and friendly. Instant 5 stars!

Royal Museum (Istana Negara)

After we had lunch, we traveled to the Royal Museum via Grab (it's KL's most convenient transportation that we Grab-ed our way going around the city, luh). Unfortunately it was undergoing maintenance that very day, and would only open to the public the next day.

National Museum (Muzium Negara)

Entrance fee is RM 5 (approximately Php58 to Php60). This is such a huge museum! Fascinated by their culture. Also got goosebumps seeing all those artifacts!

Berjaya Times Square

Last stop was, of course, the mall?? We were in Kuala Lumpur and we had Korean for dinner, lol. We sneaked in and bought a cheesecake as well to surprise my father for his birthday.

He was actually surprised!

DAY 2

Petronas Twin Towers

Also took a Grab to get here. We didn't know where the tourists take their photos so we ended up taking ours at the back entrance of Suria KLCC mall. Most of our time that day were spent taking photos at the Twin Towers that didn't even make it here on the blog, lol.

KL City Walk

You will find different food hubs here and everything looked enticing! It's a very chill hangout place. How cute are those umbrellas?

KL Tower

We only sight-see on the Observation Deck (RM 49, around Php580) of the KL Tower because aside from me and my sister, Joyce, everyone else was scared to go to the Sky Deck. And yup, ticket was expensive at RM 105/adult, around Php1200. I realized you wouldn't need that unless you really wanna try the Sky Box!

KL City Gallery

Entrance is free of charge. And since it is free, there's a 99.9% chance that there's going to be a lot of people. When we visited, there was like two group tours and they're very loud, and annoying. Lol. You'll find the replicas and miniatures of their tourist spots here. Kids will also enjoy!

Central Market

Last stop for the day. We started buying souvenirs and pasalubongs already on our 2nd day! Old Town Coffee has a branch here and you should definitely hoard their coffee because it's really cheap here! We only paid for RM 15 (Php177) for the 38g bag of 15s! Since I really am not much of a coffee drinker, I got myself a box of their milk tea instead, which is also GOOD.

DAY 3

Batu Caves

Look at how pick-pocket friendly that you may be tempted to steal that single journey pass!

We traveled via KTM Komuter, one of Malaysia's railway system (opposite our LRT and MRT here in the Philippines). You'll get off at Batu Caves station, and from there, it's just a walking distance. Beware of the monkeys though, they'll steal your food and drinks!

National Mosque

Spent the entire morning at Batu Caves because it was really too humid to walk back and travel. Headed to the National Mosque in the afternoon. We had to wear a purple robe/cloak over our clothes and no one is allowed to wear their shoes. You'll enter barefoot.

Jalan Alor

Because we were all too tired to still go to a different spot, we went straight back to our hotel. Me, my boyfriend, Joyce, and her boyfriend went out to grab food at Jalan Alor. We found the best Japanese cake there!!! It's being sold in a cart, so make sure to notice it!

DAY 4

Found this gem as well! Coconut and Blueberry ice cream <3

Jalan Petaling (Chinatown)

Bought more souvenirs and stuff for ourselves. I got my Cath Kidston duffel bag replica there! I got it for only RM 60 from RM 120, lol. It's around Php600 to Php700. Went back to Central Market to buy more pasalubongs, and to grab dinner. And bought more Japanese cakes from Jalan Alor for takeaway!

Overall, Malaysia is very welcoming. Stuff are cheap. You can easily go around via Grab and wouldn't cost you a lot of money. There is also traffic there but it is still nothing compared to the rush hour in the Philippines, lol.

Shoot me a message if you want to know where exactly we stayed in Bukit Bintang. :)
